What is a Balance Transfer?

A balance transfer is an advance of credit from your MBNA credit card.  Requesting a balance transfers can be a convenient way for you to manage your finances, and potentially pay less in interest charges, by transferring your higher-interest balances from other credit cards, retail cards and/or loans to a lower-interest MBNA® credit card. You can even transfer funds to your chequing account using available credit from your MBNA credit card.  Balance transfers are subject to available credit and applicable fees (if any).

Why Should I Consider a Balance Transfer?

  • You could pay off your higher-interest credit cards and loans faster
  • You could pay less interest
Transferring debt from a credit card or loan with a higher interest rate to a MBNA credit card with a lower standard interest rate on balance transfers could result in paying less in interest each month.
  • Simplify your payment plan
Instead of making multiple payments to several credit cards and loans, consolidate what you owe with MBNA and make one easy monthly payment.
  • Quick access to cash when you need it
With the ability to transfer funds into your personal chequing account using available credit from your MBNA credit card, you'll have quick access to cash for your financial needs.

Are There Any Limitations on Balance Transfers?

Balance transfers are subject to available credit and applicable fees (if any), and may not be used to pay off or down your account balance or any other balances with MBNA or any member of the TD Bank Group.
